Trail Description
From the parking area go past the metal gate and by a swamp where you will come to the first steep incline. Follow the trail until you come to the V.A.S.T trail system, stay straight and you will see signs on your left. Follow this single-track until you come to another set of signs and stay left. You will ride past the Long Trail and eventually come to what seems to be an old logging road. Follow this until you come to a small meadow and take a right. Follow this section over a series of small plank bridges and one larger bridge you will meet up with another trail. Take a left and this will bring you to Lower Preston Pond where you need to take a right. Follow this winding single-track trail over 3 more bridges when you get to the V.A.S.T trail take a right. Ride past Upper Preston Pond and follow it around to the right. Stay on the V.A.S.T trail until you come back to the original trail you started on. Take a left and head back to the parking area.
How To Get There
Heading South on Rt. 89 take exit 11 (Richmond). Take a left off the off-ramp. Take a right onto River Road and an immediate right onto Governer Peck Hwy, follow this to the end and take a left onto Brown's Trace. On the right (approx. 1.5 miles) you will see a sign for the West Bolton Golf Course, take a right onto Nashville Road. Follow Nashville Road until you come to a 3 way stop sign, take a right onto Stage Road. Follow Stage Rd. for about 1/2 mile after you go up a steep hill take a left onto Notch Road. Follow this for approx. 1 1/2 to 2 miles. On the right you will see the Preston Pond Loop parking area. See it on Google Maps.
